Carson City mom attending QVC tradeshow
to compete in Oprah’s search for the Next Big Idea
Carson City, NV—March 12, 2007—
Local woman entrepreneur Colleen Bannister will be presenting her
personalized gift cards called ’35 Thoughts’ at the QVC tradeshow in Los
Angeles California on the 26th of March. The tradeshow is
one of a series of stages in Oprah Winfrey’s search for the next ‘Big
Idea’.
Bannister’s product originated from a
gift she created for her husband, and has gained popularity in the past
year in the Reno and Carson City area. Comprised of a packet of 35
cards, each containing the beginning of a sentence such as “ If I could
grant you one wish it would be”, 35 Thoughts allows you to give a
personalized gift by completing the sentence on each card.
”I have been in contact with
Oprah’s producers for about two years now,” said Bannister,” but this
will be the first time I attend one of her events.” The Oprah Winfrey
show has teamed up with QVC for this event. The finalists from 3
tradeshows, including the one that Bannister will be attending will all
be given an opportunity to present their products on the Oprah Winfrey
Show.
Colleen Bannister started her business
literally out of her garage in 2002. After many trials and errors, the
product finally gained momentum after generating a local media buzz, and
landing placement in many local stores, including Borders Bookstores in
Reno and Carson City, NV.
“I’m just so excited to be able to
participate in this event, no matter how far it goes,” said Bannister,
who will be flying to L.A. with her husband for the event on March 26th.
“Everyone has responded so positively to 35 Thoughts, so I think it will
do very well.” The final winner will be chosen by the studio audience
and then go on to sell their product on QVC.
